Apart from the erection of the chimney Bernar Venet in Nice during the France-Africa summit attended by President of the Republic, we can not say that this anniversary was celebrated in an extraordinary atmosphere. It is true that pay tribute to an emperor who was a dictator, after all, was especially passionate Minister Delegate for Industry.

Yet there is a small neighboring town who still believes and has a closing series of events: Thursday, September 9
18.30: Lecture: "The architectural legacy of the House of Savoy in Villefranche- sur-Mer in 1860 "by Mara De Candido the citadel.
At 19.30: opening of the exhibition "One day in 1860"
Sunday, September 12 at 13:30 at the Port Health: Reconstruction of the arrival and landing of Napoleon III in Villefranche-sur-Mer on 12 September 1860.
Saturday, September 18: Dinner in the St. Michel on the theme of 1860.
Wednesday, September 22: Opera "Napoleon III" at 21h Théâtre de Verdure.

Then we will be quiet until 2060 for the bicentennial. Who knows? we may no longer be French at that date?
